The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

From parental absence, to the angst of a first love and the unrelenting pressure to fit in: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is an immensely lovable musical that weaves the underlying issues faced by young teens today into the context of a painfully-awkward spelling bee. Queenwood School for Girls’ cast performed brilliantly over their two week season, with a grounded-confidence not often seen when students perform in front of their parents.

Latarka had the pleasure of providing the school with lighting design, operation, rigging and equipment hire. We also thoroughly ‘enjoyed’ (read: groaned at) all the dad joke adlibs the cast came up with to make each performance unique.
